Ashley Spence Commits to Minot State

The Westman Wildcats would like to extend its congratulations to Ashley Spence, a 3rd year Wildcat defenseman from Bottineau, ND, who has committed to attend school at, and play hockey with, the Minot State University Beavers in the fall of 2020.  Ashley intends to enroll in the Pre-Dentistry program.

 

In 28 league games last year Ashley had 5 assists. Overall, in 58 games last season, Ashley scored 1 goal and added 8 assists for 9 points. So far this year she has recorded an assist in 8 league games.

From Coach Miner of the MSU Beavers, “We are excited to have Ashley join our program in the fall.  She is a strong positional player who reads the ice well and her presence on the point will add depth to our roster.”

Minot State University (MSU or MiSU) is a four-year institution of higher learning in Minot, North Dakota. Founded in 1913 as a normal school, Minot State University is the third-largest university in North Dakota, offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs.  Three colleges comprise the university’s academic offerings: Arts and Sciences, Business, and Education and Health Sciences. Nine master's degrees and one education specialist degree are offered in such areas as communication disorders, management, and mathematics. 



 


Wildcats vs Winnipeg Ice League #1

The Westman Wildcats defeated the Winnipeg Ice 4-2 on Sunday afternoon in Winnipeg.  Charly Lindberg scored what proved to be the winner on the powerplay midway through the 3rd period.  Hayley Kolosky, Gilly Gervin and Makenna Beard also scored for the Wildcats.  Jillian Szabo picked up the victory in net, stopping 21 of 23 shots on net.

The Westman Wildcats defeated the Central Plains Capitals 3-0 in Portage on Saturday night.  Shaylee Scraba led the way for the Wildcats with two goals. Charly Lindbergh picked up the other goal. Natalie Williamson picked up the shutout in net.

Wildcats vs Yellowhead - League #1

The Westman Wildcats picked up their first home ice victory of the season, coming from behind to defeat the Yellowhead Chiefs 3-2 on Sunday afternoon in Hartney.  Shaylee Scraba scored the eventual game winner with 3:03 remaining in the 3rd period off a goal mouth scramble.  Charly Lindberg tied the game up early in the 3rd period on a penalty shot.  Jillian Szabo picked up the victory in net, stopping 16 of eighteen shots on net.

The Westman Wildcats fell 2-1 in a shootout to the Winnipeg Avros on Sunday afternoon in Hartney.  Natalie Williamson suffered the loss in net stopping 31 of 32 shots.

The Westman Wildcats fell 3-2 in overtime to the Eastman Selects on Saturday night in Hartney.  The Wildcats record now falls to 1-3 on the season.  Jillian Szabo suffered the loss in net stopping 22 of 25 shots.

Wildcats vs Winnipeg Avros - League #1

The Wildcats defeated the Winnipeg Avros 2-1 on Sunday afternoon in Winnipeg to split their opening weekend of games.  The Wildcats battled hard with a depleted squad throughout the game.  Charly Lindberg scored the winner on a brilliant individual effort midway through the 2nd period and Jillian Szabo stopped 39 of 40 shots on net to pick up the victory in net.  Gilly Gervin scored the other Wildcats goal.

1st Period
