Hubbard Commits to University of Regina

     The Westman Wildcats would like to extend its congratulations to Paige Hubbard, a 3rd year Wildcat from Brandon, MB, who has committed to attend school at, and play hockey with, the University of Regina Cougars in the fall of 2019.  She plans to pursue an Education degree.

      In 28 league games last year she had 3 goals, 10 assists for 13 points. Overall, in 58 games last season, Paige scored 9 goals and added 18 assist for 27 points. So far this season, in 15 league games Paige has 6 goals and 5 assists for 11 points. In 34 games overall this season she has recorded 13 goals and 14 assists for 27 points.  Overall, during her Wildcats career, Paige has played in 130 games and recorded 25 goals and 38 assists for 63 points.

     From Coach Hodges of the Regina Cougars, “I’m really excited to have Paige as our first commitment for 2019.  I think she has the speed and intelligence to make an impact at the Canada West level.  She is a great fit with the group that we have and I look forward to watching her to continue to develop over the next year and a half.”

     The University of Regina is a member of the Canada West Conference of the CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport). The University of Regina is public research university located in Regina, Saskatchewan. It is composed of 10 faculties and  one school that offer a variety of programs at the certificate, diploma, undergraduate and graduate degree levels. More than 12,000 students are currently enrolled. 


 

 

 


Wildcats Fall to the Avros 3-2 in a Shootout

The Wildcats got out to a quick start, scoring 2 goals in the opening 5 minutes of the game but only managed 14 more shots the rest of the game as the Avros came back from a 2 goal deficit to tie it midway through the 3rd period and win in a shootout.

1st Period

15:54 - Wildcats goal - Hubbard from Thompson and Williams

Jenna Marshall was solid in net, stopping 44 of 46 shots but suffered the loss.

Wildcats vs Balmoral Hall

The Wildcats defeated Balmoral Hall this morning 2-0, bring their record to 1-2-1 in tournament play this weekend.  The team will now face Northern Alberta Extreme at 6:00 PM in their final game of the tournament.

Wildcats vs St.Albert

The Wildcats bounced back from a miserable effort on Thursday night and battled  last years national champion St. Albert to a 1-1 tie.

The Westman Wildcats were defeated 4-1 by OHA this morning in Wilcox.  OHA scored 3 powerplay goals on their way to victory.

Wildcats Fall 3-1 to Yellowhead in Shoal Lake

The Westman Wildcats fell 3-1 this afternoon in Shoal Lake.  The two teams went into the 3rd period tied at 1.  The Wildcats had plenty of good scoring opportunities throughout the game that they were unable to capitalize on.
