Scraba Commits to Regina

The Westman Wildcats would like to extend its congratulations to Shaylee Scraba, a 4th year Wildcat from Souris, MB, who has committed to attend school at, and play hockey with, the University of Regina Cougars in the fall of 2021.  She plans to pursue a Kinesiology degree.

 

In 27 league games last year Shaylee had 10 goals, 7 assists for 17 points. Overall, in 52 games last season, she scored 20 goals and added 15 assists for 35 points. Overall, during her Wildcats career, Shaylee has played in 163 games and recorded 51 goals and 47 assists for 98 points.

 

From Coach Hodges of the Regina Cougars, “Shaylee’s skill set will give her the ability to contribute in many areas on our team.  This skill set, along with her smarts and versatility, will make her a pleasure to coach.”

 

The University of Regina is a member of the Canada West Conference of uSports. It is a public research university located in Regina, Saskatchewan. It is composed of 10 faculties and one school that offer a variety of programs at the certificate, diploma, undergraduate and graduate degree levels. More than 12,000 students are currently enrolled. 


 

 


Rink Commits to Minot State

The Westman Wildcats would like to extend its congratulations to Krissy Rink, a 3rd year Wildcat forward from Melita, MB, who has committed to attend school at, and play hockey with, the Minot State University Beavers in the fall of 2021. Krissy plans to complete a Corporate Fitness degree.

 

In 27 league games last year Krissy had 3 goals, 3 assists for 6 points. Overall, in 51 games last season, Krissy scored 7 goals and added 7 assists for 14 points. This season, in 5 league games, Krissy has 1 goal and 3 assists for 4 points. 

From Coach Miner of the MSU Beavers, “We are excited to bring in such a dynamic and hard working player like Krissy.  Her speed is evident every time she steps on the ice and she will make that quick adjustment at the next level.  Her motivation, work ethic and character are fantastic and she will have no problem fitting into our culture at Minot State.”

Minot State University (MSU or MiSU) is a four-year institution of higher learning in Minot, North Dakota. Founded in 1913 as a normal school, Minot State University is the third-largest university in North Dakota, offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs.  Three colleges comprise the university’s academic offerings: Arts and Sciences, Business, and Education and Health Sciences. Nine master's degrees and one education specialist degree are offered in such areas as communication disorders, management, and mathematics. 

 

 


Williamson commits to Regina

The Westman Wildcats would like to extend its congratulations to Natalie Williamson, a 3rd year Wildcat from Brandon, MB, who has committed to attend school at, and play hockey with, the University of Regina Cougars in the fall of 2021.  She plans to pursue a degree in Police Studies.

 

So far in 3 starts this season in league play, Natalie has posted a 3 wins and no losses, a 1.00 goals against average and a .952 save percentage. In 17 starts during league play last year, Natalie posted a 11-6 record with a 1.29 goals against average and a .942 save percentage. Natalie was named a 1st team all-star for her efforts.. 

 

From Coach Hodges of the Regina Cougars, “I am pleased to have Natalie joining us for next season. She’s shown an ability to perform under pressure in her time with the Wildcats. I’m also very excited to have a student of Natalie’s caliber joining our squad!”

Wildcats Win 6-1 at Home Saturday Night vs Eastman

The Westman Wildcats solved their scoring woes on Saturday night, scoring 6 goals, 2 in each period, en route to a 6-1 victory over the Eastman Selects.  Rylee Martin led the way with 2 goals and an assist and Natalie Williamson stopped 27 of 28 shots on net. Spring Mosset scored her first goal of her career.  The Wildcats go on the road next weekend as they travel to Interlake on Friday night and Winnipeg on Sunday to face the Avros.

Wildcats Fall 2-1 to Central Plains

The Westman Wildcats dropped their 2nd straight game at home this afternoon, falling 2-1 to the Central Plains Capitals.  The Wildcats fired 44 shots on net but were unable to beat the Capitals goaltender, Megan Beswitherick, until late in the 3rd period.  Grace Glover suffered the loss in net.  Kelsey Page scored the lone Wildcats goal with a seeing eye puck from the point.  The Wildcats host Eastman next Saturday night in Hartney.  Game time is 7:30 PM

Wildcats Win 3-1 on the Road in Eastman Saturday Night

The Westman Wildcats defeated the Eastman Selects 3-1 on Saturday night in Ste. Anne.  Eastman got on the scoresheet first with an even strength goal at the 6:58 mark of the opening period.  The Wildcats responded back quickly, however, as Shaylee Scraba notted the twine just over a minute later to tie the game.  The Wildcats would go on to score two unanswered goals, one in the 2nd period by Billie Baranyk and another in the 3rd period by Krissy Rink.  Natalie Williamson picked up the win in net, stopping 21 of 22 shots on net. 

The Wildcats next game is Sunday, Oct 18th at 2:00 PM when they host the Central Plains Capitals.  Happy Thanksgiving.
